You can roast your own green beans; or buy your favorite, light, medium or darkly roasted beans.

A good burr coffee bean grinder is essential to make excellent coffee over and over regardless of the brewing method used; but especially so for use with espresso machines or Mokka pots (stove top coffee makers.) Their are many good espresso machines such as the Gaggia series and others; depending on what you want. The French Press makers and Turkish Coffee makers are also popular. the drip coffee method is one of the easiest ways to make coffee.

Coffee beans should be ideally kept air tight or in a glass container without being in direct sunlight.

For tea making all the true teas are made from the same tea plant; but from different tea cultivars of the Camellia sinensis plant. The white tea is the most unprocessed, then Green, Pouchong, Oolong with many variations of it and black tea. There are different teas in between each of these basic types of teas too; but those are the main types of processing used to make teas around the world.

In China the Yixing type teapots are popular; but they are used in the USA too. These tea pots are unglazed and said to hold tea flavor in the ceramic insides of the tea pots from previous uses.

The Japanese tea pots are called kyusu (side-handled teapot) some have the Sasame (clay mesh screen) instead of the metal mesh screen to separate the leaves from the tea.

The French Press also works well for making tea.

Excellent teas can be made in other ceramic tea pots as well.

For green teas (Gyokuro, Sencha,matcha, etc), white teas warm; not boiling hot water is used to make the tea to prevent bitterness that boiling hot water would release from the tea leaves.

Hot water can be used for the Black teas and Oolong teas.

Teas and Coffee have mild anti-depressant qualities too. Caffeine is added to some pharmaceutical medicines.
